About the Role

Hootsuite is seeking an AI Social Strategist to pioneer Hootsuite's organic social presence, operating with an AI-first model from inception. This role, reporting to the Director, Marketing Channels & Distribution, is embedded within the AEO team. You will be responsible for treating social media as a continuously evolving system, not merely a series of tasks, focusing on building and optimizing automated workflows.

This position is open to remote applicants in Canada (in Provinces where Hootsuite can legally hire). For candidates within commuting distance of our Toronto or Vancouver offices, a hybrid work component will be required.

What You'll Do

  • Build and manage an AI-first social system across Hootsuite Amplify and other key social channels (LinkedIn, X, Reddit, and Meta), leveraging tools like Claude, the Hootsuite MCP, and other complementary technologies to automate routine functions.
  • Develop reusable Claude skills and MCP-powered tools (e.g., brand-voice drafting, post analysis, listening synthesis, competitive briefs) to ensure your work scales and compounds over time.
  • Own social listening end-to-end using Talkwalker and similar tools. Translate raw social signals into weekly insights and quarterly content strategy, and build automated listening reports for immediate, interpreted insights.
  • Collaborate with the AEO team to monitor and enhance Hootsuite's share of voice across AI answer surfaces (Brand Radar, third-party citations, creator content), integrating social signals with AEO outcomes.
  • Establish social performance analysis as a systematic process, moving beyond manual reports. Combine traditional engagement and reach metrics with AI-first KPIs such as skills shipped, percentage of work automated, share of voice on AI surfaces, and time-to-insight on listening.
  • Design and launch innovative social programs for lead generation, employee advocacy via Amplify, executive thought leadership, and AI-native creative formats.
  • Continuously improve your role as a system, aiming for the majority of recurring work to be managed through automated pipelines within six months.
  • Champion Hootsuite's internal AI tooling and MCP capabilities, providing structured feedback to influence product development.

What You'll Need

  • 5-8 years of experience in social media, content marketing, or brand strategy roles, with a minimum of one role where you were responsible for strategy, not solely execution. B2B SaaS experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in building AI-augmented workflows. You should have hands-on experience shipping projects using tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, custom GPTs, MCPs, n8n, Zapier with AI, or similar, and be able to articulate the automation achieved and its impact.
  • Proficiency with social media intelligence platforms (Hootsuite, Sprout, Brandwatch, Khoros) and social listening tools (Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Sprinklr).
  • Familiarity with AEO, SEO, or related brand-presence disciplines is a significant asset.
  • A commitment to achieving results, demonstrating high performance, and challenging yourself and others to deliver.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, using an organized and logical approach to identify root causes and find solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to influence others, assert ideas, gain support, and mobilize people to action.
  • Excellent open communication skills, both written and verbal, with attentive listening and effective questioning for clarification.
