About the Role
Amazon is seeking a passionate, talented, and inventive Scientist with a strong machine learning background to contribute to the development of industry-leading Speech and Language technology. Our mission is to enhance the customer experience by pushing the boundaries in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Machine Translation (MT), Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Machine Learning (ML), and Computer Vision (CV).
As part of our AI team within Amazon AWS, you will collaborate with internationally recognized experts to create novel algorithms and modeling techniques, advancing the state-of-the-art in human language technology. Your contributions will directly impact millions of customers through products and services that leverage speech and language technology. You will gain hands-on experience with Amazon’s diverse speech, text, and structured data sources, alongside large-scale computing resources, to accelerate advancements in spoken language understanding. This role also involves providing leadership and mentorship within the Amazon AI Science teams. We are actively hiring across all areas of human language technology, including ASR, MT, IE, NLU, text-to-speech (TTS), and Dialog Management, in addition to Computer Vision.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in building large-scale machine translation and natural language processing systems (e.g., commercial MT/NLP products or government MT/NLP projects).
- Solid Machine Learning and Deep Learning background, familiar with standard MT/NLP and machine learning techniques.
- Scientific thinking and the ability to invent, with a track record of thought leadership and contributions that have advanced the field.
- Solid software development experience.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of or experience in building production quality and large scale deployment of applications related to natural language processing and machine learning.
- Basic understanding of Deep Learning.
- Experience with at least one of the modern distributed ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, MxNet.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment.
- Experience with AWS technology stack.
