Role Summary

The Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer (CRAO) is responsible for leading the organization's regulatory strategy, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry requirements while supporting business growth and market expansion. The CRAO serves as the primary liaison with regulators, government agencies, and industry bodies, proactively managing regulatory risks and influencing policy developments that impact the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regulatory Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the organization's regulatory affairs strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Advise the CEO, Board, and executive leadership on regulatory developments and emerging risks.
  • Anticipate regulatory changes and assess their impact on business operations and strategy.
  • Lead regulatory engagement initiatives to support corporate growth and innovation.

2. Regulatory Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with applicable regulations, laws, and industry standards.
  • Establish regulatory compliance frameworks, policies, and controls.
  • Monitor compliance performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting and disclosure requirements.

3. Government & Regulatory Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities and government agencies.
  • Manage regulatory examinations, inspections, and audits.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, policymakers, and industry associations.
  • Represent the organization in regulatory consultations and industry forums.

4. Policy Development & Regulatory Advocacy

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Analyze proposed regulations and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Influence policy discussions through engagement with industry stakeholders.
  • Coordinate responses to consultations, policy papers, and regulatory inquiries.

5. Risk Management & Governance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory risks.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit functions.
  • Ensure alignment between regulatory requirements and enterprise governance frameworks.
  • Provide regular regulatory risk reporting to executive leadership and the Board.

6. Licensing & Regulatory Approvals

  • Oversee licensing, registrations, certifications, and regulatory approvals.
  • Support market entry initiatives and expansion into new jurisdictions.
  • Ensure timely submission of regulatory applications and filings.
  • Manage regulatory approval processes for new products and services.
