About the Role
cBEYONData, a subsidiary of SMX, is seeking a Full Stack AI Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable AI-enabled web applications and cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS technologies. The ideal candidate is a strong systems thinker with experience across front-end development, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and emerging AI technologies. This role will support the development of modern AI-powered applications, integrations, and automation capabilities while ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency in a high-tempo environment. This role is hybrid supporting a Hanover, MD program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications using modern frameworks and cloud-native architectures.
- Build and maintain user interfaces using React and related front-end technologies.
- Develop backend services, APIs, serverless functions, and integrations using Python and/or Node.js.
- Integrate AI and machine learning services such as Amazon Bedrock and other large language model (LLM) platforms into enterprise applications.
- Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic AI workflows, and AI orchestration capabilities.
- Optimize AI model prompts, monitor model performance, and support cost-efficient AI solution design.
- Support deployment automation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational sustainment of AI-enabled systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements and cloud governance best practices utilizing AWS IAM, security guardrails, and related controls.
- Support DevSecOps activities including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud cost management.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in full-stack software development.
- Demonstrated experience developing modern web applications using:
- React or similar front-end frameworks.
- Python and/or Node.js backend technologies.
- Experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications in AWS environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting at least one production-grade AI or machine learning implementation.
- Experience integrating APIs, asynchronous processing, and scalable backend services.
- Understanding of software security principles and secure cloud architecture practices.
- Experience with DevSecOps concepts and modern software delivery practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Secret clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ certification required.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience with Amazon Bedrock or other enterprise generative AI platforms.
- Experience implementing RAG architectures, AI agents, or orchestration frameworks.
- Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and AI evaluation techniques.
- Experience optimizing AI model usage for performance and cost efficiency.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies.
- Experience supporting federal or DoD environments.
