Microsoft Edge recently declared a while back that it will be making the web better through more open source collaboration while Edge promises to continue to enable customers to do more. With the general availability Edge has already reached millions of customers and is taking a fresh approach to browsing by putting the end user at the center and meeting the user where they are, shipping on Windows 10, down level Windows, Mac and Android.
We are looking for highly motivated and passionate data and applied scientists to apply scientific methodology to data to drive Edge success. Responsibilities
- Formulate approaches to solve challenging problems using well-defined algorithms and data sources in context of customer, engineering, and business needs.
- Use data exploration techniques to discover new questions or opportunities within your problem area.
- Use your analytical and communication skills to deliver insights, opportunities and solutions using data, visualizations, and effective storytelling.
- Design, develop, and maintain data collection, pipelines for analysis and reporting as needed.
- Enable product teams in experimentation through creating hypotheses, designing experiments, and analyzing the results.
- Engage with peers to produce clear, compelling, and actionable insights that influence product and service improvements; crafting the experience hundreds of millions of customers have with Edge.
- Interpret the results of their analysis, validate their approach, and learn to monitor, analyze, and iterate to continuously improve.
- Contribute to research, identification, prototyping, and production of data science techniques and algorithms that result in specific action plans.
- Engage in the peer review process and act on feedback while learning innovative methods, algorithms, and tools to increase the impact and applicability of your results.
Qualifications
- Degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics.
- 5+ years’ experience in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science, and/or Statistics.
- Ability to get along with peers and partners to drive product and business impact.
- Successful at applying analytical methods to business problems, driving improved decision-making and outcomes.
- Advanced SQL and data visualization and report authoring skills.
- Engineering experience using large data systems on SQL, Hadoop, Hive queries, etc.
- Experience using analytics to understand user behavior and drive business decisions.
- Proficiency in using one or more programming or scripting languages like Python, Java, Scala, C# etc. to work with data.
- Demonstrable understanding of software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, async programming patterns, object-oriented design, parallel programming).
