We are seeking a Data Catalog Manager to lead the implementation and adoption of an enterprise data catalog. The role involves designing and deploying platforms such as Collibra, Alation, or Microsoft Purview to improve data discoverability and governance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of an enterprise data catalog platform (Collibra, Alation, Purview, or equivalent).
• Develop a metadata management strategy including business glossary, data dictionaries, and lineage mapping.
• Onboard data assets from across the enterprise: databases, data warehouses, data lakes, APIs, and BI reports.
• Define and enforce metadata standards, tagging taxonomies, and classification schemas.
• Partner with data governance and data quality teams to embed catalog-driven controls and trust scores.
• Drive business adoption of the catalog through training programmes, use-case showcases, and self-service enablement.
• Build and maintain automated metadata ingestion pipelines and lineage workflows.
• Define catalog KPIs: coverage rate, glossary completeness, active user counts, and search-to-find ratios.
• Continuously improve catalog content, usability, and integration with downstream analytics platforms.
Skills
• 4+ years (AM) / 7+ years (Manager–SM) in data catalog, metadata management, or data architecture roles.
• Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise catalog platform: Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, AWS Glue, or Informatica CDGC.
• Deep understanding of metadata types: technical, business, operational, and lineage.
• Experience building business glossaries, data dictionaries, and classification frameworks.
• Familiarity with data lineage tools and integration patterns (APIs, scanners, connectors).
• Strong communication skills: ability to translate technical metadata concepts for business users.
Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is a strong advantage.
