KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and implement an enterprise data governance framework covering policies, standards, procedures, and controls.
• Establish and operationalise a Data Governance Council, defining roles such as Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Custodians.
• Define and enforce data governance policies across the data lifecycle: ingestion, storage, transformation, consumption, and archival.
• Drive compliance with internal data policies and external regulatory requirements (UAE PDPL, GDPR where applicable).
• Collaborate with data catalog, data quality, and data security teams to ensure governance controls are consistently applied.
• Develop data governance training and change-management programmes for business stakeholders.
• Track and report on governance KPIs: policy adherence rates, issue resolution times, and stewardship coverage.
• Facilitate working groups to resolve data ownership disputes and cross-domain data issues.
Review and update governance frameworks as the organisation’s data landscape evolves
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years (AM) / 8+ years (Manager–SM) in data governance, data management, or enterprise compliance roles.
• Hands-on experience implementing data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with data governance tooling: Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (UAE PDPL, GDPR, DIFC Data Protection Law).
• Excellent facilitation and influencing skills to drive adoption across business and technology teams.
• Experience establishing data stewardship programmes and data ownership models in complex organisations.
• CDMP certification or equivalent data governance certification is preferred.
