About the Role

Chime is looking for a Director, Associate General Counsel to lead our Privacy & Security team. The Director will work cross-functionally with marketing, security, engineering, product, data, and member support teams to manage Chime’s privacy program in compliance with applicable privacy and data security laws and regulations. The Associate General Counsel will also play a key role in Chime’s AI governance program.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Advise teams on privacy laws, with a particular emphasis on financial privacy
  • Take the lead in maintaining Chime’s privacy program to ensure it meets evolving regulatory expectations
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and help manage privacy impact assessments and ensure that privacy by design is embedded in everything Chime does
  • Work collaboratively with product counsel to advise on privacy aspects of product design
  • Develop and conduct both general and role-specific privacy trainings
  • Support Chime’s security team, including by supporting scenario planning exercises and advising on reportability of incidents to the extent they arise
  • Stay abreast of regulatory and industry trends in privacy and security laws, including new regimes and requirements that may become applicable as the business evolves, and work with cross functional partners to implement necessary changes
  • Help maintain and update privacy and security policies and notices

To thrive in this role, you have

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in-house, with an emphasis on helping build or maintain privacy and security programs
  • Interest in, and experience advising on, AI enablement and governance
  • Experience advising a security team on best practices and preparedness
  • Proven track record leading a team
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory expectations into actionable, pragmatic guidance
  • Experience helping to craft privacy policies and procedures for business teams while advising on risks and providing practical options for mitigating those risks
  • Flexibility in managing shifting priorities as part of a creative and dynamic business
  • Outstanding professional judgment and excellent communication and drafting skills
  • Comfort with advising senior business leaders (including executive-level management)
