About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the Role

Your primary mission is network operations: deploying and maintaining network infrastructure, overseeing smarthands vendors, and owning the physical infrastructure lifecycle from install through decommission. You’ll also flex into other site work as the network infrastructure team needs you.

This isn’t a maintenance gig; you’ll be building the processes, playbooks, and operational discipline that the team scales on. You’ll work across sites, travel regularly, and have a direct impact on the infrastructure that powers Claude.

Responsibilities

Own network infrastructure deployment, maintenance, and bringup across sites

Oversee outside plant and long-haul fiber optic repair vendors: manage dispatches, validate work quality, and ensure SLA compliance

Execute network device installation, configuration validation, and commissioning support

Own RMA processes end-to-end: triage, swap, ship, track, close

Manage spares inventory and coordinate logistics across sites

Conduct physical asset auditing and cradle-to-grave lifecycle tracking

Coordinate with vendors for outsourced work and hold them accountable

Build repeatable processes and playbooks that scale with the team

Support various site deployments like: rack-and-stack, commissioning, forklift, decommissioning as needed

Travel up to 40 - 60% to sites across the U.S.

You may be a good fit if you

Have 5+ years (3+ considered for the right candidate) of hands-on experience in field engineering, network operations, or telecom infrastructure

Understand fiber optic systems well enough to oversee vendor work: you can validate splicing, testing, and repair quality without necessarily doing it yourself

Are familiar with network hardware deployment (switches, routers, optics)

Have managed RMA workflows and spares logistics across multiple sites

Hold relevant certifications or are willing to obtain them (OSHA 10/30, BICSI, fiber certifications, confined space)

Can work independently in the field with minimal supervision: you know how to figure it out, and are not afraid to reach out and ask questions when needed

Have experience building processes from scratch, not just following them

Thrive in ambiguity and move fast without waiting for perfect information

Have a bias toward action: you’d rather do than talk about doing

Communicate clearly and directly, especially when flagging risks or blockers
