About the Role
HSBC Data and Analytics Office (DAO) promotes a data-driven culture across HSBC through its strategy focusing on: Protecting data with robust policies and enhanced governance; Connecting through training and talent development to foster a data-led culture; and Unlocking value from well-managed data to improve customer/colleague experience, increase revenue, commercialise data, optimise capital, enhance risk management, or reduce costs.
The Head of DAO Singapore supports all three pillars of this strategy and is responsible for the Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia cluster, with the added responsibility as the Regional lead for ESG data and BI.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive implementation and monitoring of the ASP data strategy across Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, ensuring it reflects Group data policies, local business needs, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and support business BI strategy to unlock value from data and drive the ESG agenda for ASP.
- Lead and drive data literacy programs across the Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia cluster.
- Host Executive Data Councils to align key data stakeholders on data governance, quality, and project initiatives.
- Engage with Regulators for the development and delivery of regulatory issues or emerging requirements relating to data.
- Partner and collaborate with members of the management team, including the Chief Information Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
- Identify, deliver, and track data quality and data management benefits cross-function/business.
- Responsible for the adoption of group standards, policies, and services.
- Share best practice across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia and partner with peers in other ASP markets to drive data-driven cultural change.
- Oversee implementation of Group standards for enterprise data in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
- Act as a conduit between Asia markets and the central DAO team to champion the ESG and BI strategy and build a demand pipeline.
- Govern standard data operating procedures, data accountability policies, data quality standards, data privacy, and ethical policies.
- Support ASP DAO in organizing, engaging, and leading a team of data practitioners covering Governance, Management, Architecture, Engineering, and Analytics.
- Drive data and business architecture practices in alignment with Global data design principles.
Customer / Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with key business stakeholders (COO, CIO, Architecture, Data Leads, Finance, Operational Risk Stewards, Chief Control Officer, Head of Analytics, Data Privacy, Legal, Regional Data & Architecture Office) to implement Group Data Policies and Standards.
- Provide oversight of data risk and control adoption for executive leadership.
- Liaise with internal/external stakeholders, including local and Group regulatory bodies, with respect to Data Governance activities.
- Work with Risk Steward to oversight data risk and define path to green activity and support internal audit activity.
- Lead data-related Regulatory reviews and engage with Regulatory Compliance.
- Identify and deliver on opportunities to add value through ESG and BI collaboration.

Controls and Management of Risk
All staff are responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the controls that are in place to manage the risks in the processes and activities that they undertake in their day-to-day role.
