About The Team
We are seeking a seasoned Head of Engineering, Search & AI based in NY to lead our AI-powered search efforts during a period of rapid growth and innovation. This is a critical leadership position reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Engineering, overseeing and expanding a team of 100+ engineers and shaping the technical direction of our next-generation search and generative AI experiences.
About The Role
- Lead and scale the engineering organization focused on AI-powered search and infrastructure.
- Drive the successful integration and application of Generative AI technologies in both product experiences and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Partner closely with Product, Data Science, and Design to define and deliver the next generation of intelligent search experiences.
- Hire, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent.
- Assess and guide architectural and technical decisions, ensuring sound design and operational excellence at scale.
- Serve as a cultural leader, fostering engineering rigor, curiosity, and continuous innovation.
- Establish a high bar for communication, collaboration, and cross-functional alignment.
- Help steer the organization through high-growth stages, ensuring scalability, performance, and agility.
Who You Are
- 15+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in a Sr. Director or VP-level role leading large-scale teams.
- Proven success in attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent in a competitive market.
- Strong track record of applying GenAI or NLP/ML technologies into real-world products and engineering workflows.
- Experience delivering AI-powered search or discovery platforms at scale.
- Has worked at a large SaaS company during a period of high growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (required); an advanced degree is a plus.
- Strong technical acumen; comfortable evaluating system design, architecture, and scalability.
- Excellent communication and executive presence; can influence up, down, and across the organization.
- Based in New York, NY or willing to relocate.
