Tarkine Consulting is supporting an Australian AI-first automation consultancy that is continuing to grow its Manila engineering team.
The company works with major Australian enterprise clients across banking, insurance and government, building intelligent workflows and automation platforms that support real business operations.
We are looking for Junior Automation Developers to join the Manila team.
This is a development role for graduates, associate developers and early-career engineers who want practical exposure to enterprise automation, BPMN workflows, APIs and the engineering practices that turn AI from a demo into a working business capability.
You will be supported by senior engineers and paired with a dedicated mentor from day one.
What you will be doing
- You will help design and build BPMN-based workflows using Camunda and related automation technologies.
- You will integrate workflows with internal and client systems using REST APIs and event streams.
- You will translate business requirements into executable code, working with business analysts and senior engineers.
- You will debug, test and document workflows to a production standard.
- You will learn structured delivery practices through hands-on project work, code review and mentoring.
What we are looking for
- We are looking for early-career developers with solid programming fundamentals.
- You should be comfortable in at least one modern language such as C# / .NET, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript or similar.
- You should understand object-oriented programming basics and be able to write clean, readable code.
- You will need a working understanding of REST APIs, JSON and how to read Swagger or OpenAPI documentation.
- Experience using API tools such as Postman or Insomnia will be useful.
- You should understand basic HTTP concepts, including methods, status codes, headers and common authentication patterns such as API keys, OAuth or JWT.
- You should also be comfortable with Git basics, including branching, committing, pull requests and resolving simple merge conflicts.
- Basic SQL skills, debugging experience in a modern IDE and clear written and verbal English communication are important.
Useful experience
- Exposure to BPMN 2.0, Camunda, Activiti, jBPM or another workflow engine would be helpful, but we do not expect you to be an expert.
- Experience or awareness across CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, Docker, RabbitMQ, Kafka, AWS, Azure or GCP would also be valuable.
- Exposure to backend frameworks such as Spring Boot, .NET
