About the Role

ICF is expanding its services and is looking for a Junior Data Scientist with strong Python experience and knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) to join its growing team. This position involves working with colleagues to deploy data science tools and techniques. You will have the opportunity to work on projects in a wide array of fields, from consumer policy to health, justice to migration, education to food, security to the environment. You will employ data science techniques to build models, analyse data, and create visualisations.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to drafting reports and proposals.
  • Present research findings to clients.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interact with all levels of ICF staff and external stakeholders.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with the following knowledge and skills:

  • An academic background in a social science, statistics, computer science, or mathematics.
  • Strong command of Python and its associated libraries.
  • Familiarity with NLP and an interest in further development in this area.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of database systems, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, is a plus.
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated real interest in UK/European policies in areas such as consumer policy, health, justice, migration, education, food, security, and the environment.
