Role Summary
As our Lead Documentation Engineer , you will define the strategic vision for all technical documentation at Mistral AI. Your responsibilities include:
Structuring and standardizing technical content to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with the needs of users, developers, and partners.
Building and leading a team of technical writers, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Support teams.
Driving editorial and technical excellence , while optimizing tools and processes for scalable, high-impact documentation.
Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering , ensuring documentation aligns with technical and product priorities.
What you will do
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute a comprehensive documentation strategy aligned with product roadmaps and business objectives.
Develop a forward-looking vision for documentation, anticipating the needs of diverse audiences, including developers, enterprises, and researchers.
Advocate for users in product and technical discussions.
Team Management
Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of technical writers.
Prioritize documentation projects based on business impact and user feedback.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Support to ensure documentation supports product development, onboarding, and customer success.
Partner with Engineering to adopt a "docs-as-code" approach, embedding documentation early in the development lifecycle.
Participate in technical reviews to maintain accuracy and relevance.
Standardization & Innovation
Create and enforce guidelines for tone, structure, and accessibility across all documentation (APIs, SDKs, tutorials, release notes, FAQs, etc.).
