Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi for candidates holding a PhD degree in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related discipline. The Genomics Expert will play a key role in advancing large-scale national and international genomics initiatives, including the Human Phenotype Project (HPP), the Emirati Genome Project, and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)-related research programs.
The role involves leading and supporting research in human genomics, precision medicine, population genetics, and cancer genomics through the analysis and interpretation of complex multi-omics and clinical datasets. Candidates are expected to possess a strong background in genomics and extensive hands-on expertise in whole genome sequencing (WGS) analysis, including SNV (single nucleotide variant), CNV (copy number variation), and SV (structural variation) detection, annotation, interpretation, and downstream biological analysis.
Responsibilities include developing and optimizing computational pipelines for large-scale genomic data processing, conducting statistical and genomic analyses, collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams, and translating genomic discoveries into impactful scientific and clinical applications.
The successful candidate will contribute to high-impact publications, research strategy, and academic mentorship within a collaborative research environment.
Candidates should demonstrate strong proficiency with genomic analysis tools, bioinformatics software, and computational algorithms commonly used in large-scale genomics research, WGS workflows, Nextflow, Snakemake, R, Python, and machine learning frameworks for biological data analysis. Experience working with large genomic cohorts, cloud/HPC environments, and AI-driven genomics methodologies is highly desirable.
