2. About the Opportunity:
The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for leading the design and development of a core Claim Clustering Platform that groups Bodily Injury claims by clinical, legal, and financial attributes. This role is essential in transitioning experimental models into production-grade systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and integration with downstream applications. The position drives the technical framework and advanced data representation methods to support critical business tools and processes.
3. Responsibilities:
• Design and maintain the mathematical and technical framework for a scalable claim clustering engine
• Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers to convert prototypes into optimized production systems
• Work with MLOps to implement automated retraining, monitoring, and model lifecycle management
• Define APIs and data contracts with Data and Application Engineering teams to support internal benchmarking and fraud detection tools
• Develop representations of claims using structured and unstructured data sources
• Serve as a subject matter expert aligning data science initiatives with system architecture and production standards
4. Requirements:
• 4-7 years of Data Science experience with proven model deployment in production
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience with Bodily Injury claims in Workers' Compensation or General Liability
• Strong knowledge of claim lifecycles, medical billing codes (ICD/CPT), litigation, and reserve dynamics
• Proficiency in Python and software engineering fundamentals including system design, CI/CD, and API development
• Expertise in unsupervised learning (clustering, dimensionality reduction) and NLP techniques (transformers, embeddings, LLM-based methods)
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects involving Data Science, Engineering, DevOps, and Product teams
