About the Role
Our newest client in Abu Dhabi, UAE, a cutting-edge agriculture technology startup, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist. They have recently secured a significant internal investment from the UAE government and are expanding their team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to key areas of team support.
Responsibilities
- Analyze environmental data records (soil composition, fertilization, weather patterns, etc.) using machine learning techniques to develop improved tools for farmers to better understand proper fertilization habits based on their location.
- Report directly to the VP of Engineering and collaborate closely on technical direction.
- Implement, design, and build production-grade code using advanced statistical techniques, with access to petabytes of data.
- Work closely with the Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams, building models from concept to production.
- Be responsible for production-grade code and research.
Requirements
The successful Senior Data Scientist will likely have the following skills and experience:
- Extensive experience using Python, R, Spark, Hadoop, and AWS for predictive modeling and data manipulation.
- Commercial experience building machine learning (supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement) models in similar (environmental) settings.
- Prior experience leading projects is a plus.
- History building recommendation engines is highly desired.
- Interest in or working knowledge of fitness/health data is preferred.
- Bayesian statistics experience is required.
- Experience with analyzing large-scale datasets is a must.
- Neural network experience is a plus (CNN, RNN, LSTM, etc.).
- MS in Environmental Sciences or a similar STEM field with an interest in environmental impact; a PhD is highly preferred given the research aspect of the role.
- Machine Learning expertise is required; Deep Learning or Natural Language Processing experience is a plus.
