About GovTech

The Government Technology Agency (GovTech) aims to transform the delivery of Government Digital Services by adopting an "outside-in" perspective, prioritizing citizens and businesses. GovTech also develops Smart Nation infrastructure and applications and fosters public collaboration in technology co-development. Join us in supporting Singapore’s vision of building a Smart Nation through info-communications technology and engineering.

About the Role

The Data Scientist will be an integral part of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) Data Science team. This role involves managing and ensuring the deployment of developed algorithms, machine learning, and analytical models into current analytics systems and production environments. You will collaborate closely with the existing team of data scientists, analysts, and relevant line units to ensure the successful delivery of data science/ML projects, managing both internal and external stakeholders.

What you will be working on:

  • Lead the implementation and deployment of data science project(s) on STB’s analytics platforms and/or products.
  • Work closely with vendors and engage internal stakeholders and project teams to manage and coordinate the implementation of data science models on STB’s systems and platforms.
  • Lead discussions with business stakeholders to establish business requirements, evaluate technical feasibility, and assess data availability for STB’s project(s).
  • Work with large, complex datasets and apply advanced analytical methods to build machine learning models.
  • Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data collected for analysis.
  • Apply data mining techniques, perform statistical analysis, and build analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale.
  • Build and develop machine learning-based models, such as recommendation engine(s) and predictive models.
  • Apply machine learning techniques (e.g., deep learning, neural networks) to enhance current analytics capabilities.
  • Provide inputs to the design and development of an integrated data model to facilitate analysis across multiple structured and unstructured datasets.

What we are looking for:

  • Project management experience with data science, data integration, and analytics work in support of internal projects and initiatives with authorized vendors.
  • Ability to lead, drive, and facilitate discussions with internal/external stakeholders to establish business and data science requirements, evaluate technical feasibility, and data availability for STB’s project(s).
  • A self-starter who can work independently and as part of a project team to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and solving non-routine analysis problems using analytical methods.
  • Ability to collaborate with the data science team to create data tools for building and optimizing data-related initiatives.
  • Experience processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data collected for analysis.
  • Ability to analyze and assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources, such as datasets from stakeholders, and annotation/labeling of new training inputs.
  • Strong collaboration skills to identify, define, ingest, and process data from multiple sources to support model development.
  • Familiarity with machine learning models for forecasting, classification, and recommendations.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical programming tools (e.g., R, Python) and database languages (e.g., SQL).
