About The Team

The IT team enables every Life360 employee to do their best work — owning helpdesk, hardware, in-office technology (yes, we still have offices!), and the business applications that run the company. Within IT, the IT Engineering team handles the deeper engineering work across identity, endpoint security, SaaS governance, and automation — pairing deep specialists with generalist engineers who cover the full surface, and treating internal IT as a product, not a ticket queue.

About the Job

Reporting to the IT Engineering Manager, the Senior IT Systems Engineer II is the generalist on the IT Engineering team — the engineer who can move fluently across SaaS platforms, identity, endpoints, and integrations, and the cornerstone our automation and infrastructure specialists rely on. You’ll be the primary technical escalation point for the Help Desk, the subject matter expert on Okta and the broader SaaS estate, and a strategic voice in tool evaluation, governance, and AI-native IT operations.

This is the role for a senior IC who genuinely enjoys the breadth — someone who can debug a SAML claim in the morning, scope an MDM policy at lunch, and design a new SaaS integration in the afternoon. Deep Okta experience is essential; Okta Certified Administrator or higher is strongly preferred.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for the Help Desk on identity, SaaS, MDM, and authentication issues that exceed Tier 2 — owning resolution and feeding fixes back into platform configuration.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on Okta and our broader identity stack (user directories, SCIM provisioning, SSO integrations, group rules, authentication policies), and partner with departments to onboard new SaaS platforms cleanly.
  • Design, configure, and maintain Life360’s SaaS estate — Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Iru (formerly Kandji), Intune, Atlassian, GitHub, and AWS — with a focus on integration, governance, and lifecycle.
  • Evaluate, deploy, and govern AI-powered tools across the organization, and build AI-assisted workflows (including MCP integrations) that accelerate troubleshooting, audit investigations, and cross-platform operations.
  • Partner closely with the team’s automation and infrastructure specialists, contributing low-code automations and scripts (PowerShell, Python, JavaScript) where they accelerate the team.
  • Define and refine IT processes and policies — including identity lifecycle, access governance, and tool-selection criteria — so they scale as the company grows.
  • Maintain clear, current technical documentation and SOPs for critical workflows; mentor junior team members and act as a bridge across IT functions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience as a senior IT systems / SaaS platform engineer in a fast-moving, distributed environment, with deep hands-on Okta administration (SSO, SCIM, group rules, authentication policies); Okta Certified Administrator or higher strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience administering and integrating Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian, GitHub, and AWS, plus MDM platforms (Iru — formerly Kandji — and Intune).
  • Comfortable working with/within IaC frameworks like Terraform.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, VPN), Zero Trust principles, and CIS-style hardening standards.
  • Hands-on experience using AI/LLM tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to accelerate IT operations, documentation, scripting, and investigations — plus familiarity with AI governance, acceptable-use policies, and enterprise AI deployment patterns.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript) and comfort with low-code automation tooling.
  • Proven ability to evaluate emerging platforms quickly, assess security posture, and make practical build-vs-buy recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce documentation and training materials that other engineers can pick up and run with.
