About the Role

Epic Games is looking for a Senior Technical Animator to join our team, focusing on the Unreal Editor. In this role, you will collaborate with animators, artists, and engineers to enhance animation pipelines, develop new features, and ensure high-quality animation content within the Unreal Editor.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain animation pipelines and tools within the Unreal Editor.
  • Develop and optimize animation systems, including Motion Matching, Control Rig, and Sequencer.
  • Collaborate with animation artists to improve workflows and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Work closely with engineers to integrate new animation features and tools.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technical animators.
  • Create and maintain documentation for animation tools and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in animation technology.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in game development, with a focus on animation and technical animation.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine and its animation tools (e.g., Animation Blueprints, Control Rig, Sequencer).
  • Expertise in 3D animation software, particularly Maya.
  • Experience with motion capture pipelines and data processing.
  • Solid understanding of rigging principles and character deformation.
  • Familiarity with physics and cloth simulation techniques.
  • Scripting proficiency in Python or Mel; C++ experience is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
