What We Do

Epic Games’ Animation team is looking for a proactive, problem-solving Senior Technical Animator. In this role, you’ll work with both engineering and art to develop and improve animation workflows and pipelines and push the boundaries of what’s possible with animation in Unreal Engine and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to work on projects that directly impact the future of animation in a real-time engine.

What You'll Do

  • Support both internal and external animation teams to ensure optimal animation workflows and pipelines.
  • Work with animators and engineers to develop cutting-edge animation tools and workflows.
  • Provide support, debugging, and advanced problem-solving for tools, pipelines, and technical issues.
  • Collaborate with animation and rigging teams to help develop character rigs, animation systems, and procedural animation solutions.
  • Explore motion capture, retargeting, physics-based animation, and cinematic animation.
  • Document tools and workflows as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in game development as a Technical Animator, Technical Artist, or Animation Tools Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles, character rigging, and animation pipelines.
  • Expertise in Maya and Unreal Engine.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience with motion capture, retargeting, and animation blending.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with procedural rigging or animation systems.
  • Familiarity with other DCC tools such as Blender or Houdini.
  • Experience with physics-based animation systems.
  • Previous experience working on shipped titles.
