About the Role

Epic Games is looking for a Senior Technical Artist with a focus on VFX to join our team! In this role, you will collaborate with the Art, Design, and Engineering teams to develop amazing visual effects and find solutions for new product initiatives. You will work closely with VFX Artists, providing them with technical support, tools, and workflows to achieve stunning visual effects. What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with Art, Design, and Engineering to identify and implement creative and technical solutions for VFX.
  • Build and maintain complex VFX within Unreal Engine, leveraging Niagara, shaders, and materials.
  • Develop and optimize workflows, tools, and pipelines for the VFX team using scripting (e.g., Python, Blueprint).
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for VFX artists, resolving issues related to performance, compatibility, and visual fidelity.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in real-time VFX.
  • Work on performance profiling and optimization of visual effects.
  • Contribute to the overall technical art strategy and best practices for VFX.

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience as a Technical Artist with a strong focus on VFX in the game industry.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine, particularly with Niagara, shaders, and materials.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Blueprints and Python.
  • Strong understanding of VFX principles, techniques, and real-time rendering challenges.
  • Experience with 3D art tools like Maya, 3ds Max, or Houdini.
  • Familiarity with other content creation tools such as Substance Designer, Photoshop, or After Effects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional real-time VFX work and technical contributions.
  • Experience working on a shipped game title is a plus.
