About the Team
The Ads Marketplace team at Reddit is a strategic growth engine focused on democratizing high-performance advertising. Their mission is to enable brands to achieve world-class results with minimal friction. To support this, a robust, scalable, and state-of-the-art Machine Learning infrastructure is essential. The Ads ML Platform team is central to this mission, building the foundation that powers all content understanding, ad targeting, and ad ranking models, thereby empowering ML engineers and data scientists to move faster and build smarter.
The Role
As the Staff Product Manager for the Ads ML Platform, you will have significant ownership over the infrastructure and tools that make Reddit's ads marketplace intelligent. You will be responsible for defining the vision and building the roadmap for a platform that enables unparalleled engineering velocity and supports the most modern ML architectures. This role serves as a bridge between complex ML systems and business outcomes. Your work, whether integrating generative AI for developer productivity, establishing unified model-serving infrastructure, or optimizing GPU utilization, will directly accelerate the delivery of highly-performant ad products. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about the intersection of platform engineering and state-of-the-art ML research.
Responsibilities
- Define the Vision: Shape the long-term strategy and roadmap for Reddit’s Ads ML platform, incorporating cutting-edge technologies like Generative AI and LLM workflows.
- Accelerate Velocity: Develop products and tooling to significantly reduce friction for Machine Learning Engineers (MLEs) and Data Scientists, enabling faster model training, deployment, and iteration.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with Engineering, Data Science, and Ads Product teams to understand constraints, prioritize platform initiatives, and deliver scalable infrastructure.
- Drive Execution and Adoption: Own key performance indicators (KPIs) related to platform reliability, latency, cost-efficiency, usage metrics, and developer productivity.
- Stay Cutting-Edge: Continuously monitor the broader ML ecosystem, including the latest research papers and emerging architectures, to identify practical applications for Reddit’s Ads ML platform.
- Distill Pain Points, Translate to Requirements: Conduct regular user research with MLEs in Ranking, Creative Effectiveness, and Content Understanding to convert challenges (e.g., slow backfills, limited training speed, difficulty sharing features) into precise product requirements, ensuring alignment with the broader organizational vision.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 7+ years of product management experience, with a focus on internal technical products, developer tools, data/ML platforms, and/or ads and content ranking.
- Deeply analytical and highly technical background, comfortable with complex data systems and understanding the entire machine learning lifecycle (training, inference, deployment, monitoring).
- Genuine passion for machine learning and AI, demonstrated by staying informed on the latest industry trends, architectures, capabilities, and enjoyment of reading ML research papers.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to translate highly technical constraints (e.g., GPU scheduling, latency budgets) into actionable product roadmaps.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical requirements to business stakeholders and articulating business goals to engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior professional experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, or Backend Software Engineer before transitioning into Product Management.
- Understanding of the Ad Tech ecosystem (bidding, ranking, targeting).
- Experience implementing or managing systems that support Generative AI/LLM workflows (Agentic automation, Prompt iteration, Fine-tuning, RAG).
