Job Summary

As a VP, AI Engineering at Impiricus, you will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of AI-driven innovation across our platform. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to deeply understand company and customer challenges, and translate them into scalable, high-impact AI solutions.

You will define how AI transforms our products—leveraging cutting-edge techniques in machine learning, large language models, and decision systems to drive measurable outcomes in healthcare engagement. This role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on technical depth, ensuring that AI is not just exploratory, but production-ready, reliable, and delivering real-world value.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the company’s AI engineering strategy aligned with product and business objectives
  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing team of AI/ML engineers
  • Architect and deliver cutting-edge AI solutions, including LLM-powered systems and intelligent automation
  • Translate complex business and product challenges into scalable AI-driven solutions
  • Own the end-to-end AI lifecycle, from research and prototyping to production deployment and monitoring
  • Establish best practices for ML infrastructure, experimentation, evaluation, and governance
  • Design and maintain scalable, reliable AI platforms using modern tooling and distributed systems
  • Stay at the forefront of AI advancements and integrate state-of-the-art techniques into production
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders and communicate AI strategy, progress, and impact to executive stakeholders

Experience

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in the AI field, spanning academia and/or industry
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI to solve real-world, high-impact problems
  • Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and modern AI methodologies
  • Strong experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and emerging agent-based systems
  • Knowledge of reinforcement learning and/or sequential decision-making frameworks
  • Proven experience building scalable ML infrastructure and distributed systems
  • Hands-on expertise with modern AI tooling
  • Track record of delivering production-grade AI systems (not just research prototypes)
  • Strong understanding of state-of-the-art AI research and ability to translate it into practical applications; publications, patents, or notable contributions preferred

Benefits

  • Healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents + on-demand healthcare concierge
  • HSA, FSA & DCFSA: Pre-tax savings options for healthcare and dependent care, with monthly employer contributions to HSA (if enrolled in a high-deductible plan)
  • Coverage & Protection: 100% paid short- and long-term disability, plus life and AD&D insurance
  • Flexible Time Off: Take the time you need with a flexible vacation policy — recharge your batteries your way
  • Parental Leave: Paid parental leave to spend time with your newborn, adopted, or foster child (available after 6 months)
  • Your Work, Your Way: If you’re close to an office, we encourage spending some time in-person to collaborate and connect. If not, remote is always an option.
  • Home Office Setup: We’ll ship you the gear you need to create a comfortable workspace at home.
  • 401(k): Save for your future with tax advantages (and company match!)
