About the Role

Gap Inc. is searching for a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Analytics and Insights. This leader will drive data-driven decision-making across critical business functions including Customer Experience, Merchandising, Inventory, and Design. The role is pivotal in shaping the company's future by leveraging data, advanced analytics, and actionable insights to influence strategy and propel business growth.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and define the strategic direction for analytics and insights across key business areas: customer, merchandising, inventory, and design. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to achieve business outcomes through data-driven decisions.
  • Data Storytelling: Craft compelling data narratives, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership, providing insights that foster business growth and innovation.
  • Insights-Driven Strategy: Provide thought leadership and strategic direction using data and analytics. Guide the organization's approach to leveraging customer, market, and operational data for business impact and competitive advantage.
  • Actionable Recommendations: Lead teams in generating business-critical insights, identifying trends, and formulating data-backed recommendations to enhance customer experience, optimize merchandising strategies, streamline inventory management, and improve product design.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with senior leadership, business units, and product teams to ensure alignment of insights and analytics with the overarching company strategy. Build strong relationships across product, engineering, marketing, and finance teams to influence decision-making.
  • Innovation and Best Practices: Stay current with industry trends and emerging analytics methodologies to continuously advance the company's analytics capabilities. Introduce best practices in data analytics, AI, machine learning, and data science to address business challenges.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of analysts, data scientists, and insight professionals. Cultivate a culture of curiosity, data literacy, and continuous learning throughout the organization.

Who You Are

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, driving business strategy through data and insights, ideally within retail, consumer goods, or e-commerce.
  • Strong experience in data storytelling, with the ability to present complex insights clearly and impactfully to executive teams.
  • Experience building a robust analytics organization with strong advanced analytics skills, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
  • Expertise in customer analytics, merchandising, inventory, or product design insights.
  • A strong strategic thinker capable of translating data into actionable business outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and business intelligence tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with a track record of leading large, cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
  • MBA or an advanced degree in a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience in driving organizational transformation through data and insights.
  • Strong familiarity with retail analytics and trends impacting consumer behavior.
